In-Character Information
Name: Zelda
Game/Series: Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Canon Point: Post game.
Age & Grade Level: 13, Freshman
Personality:
Princess Zelda is, well, a princess, as the title suggests! It is a role she takes quite seriously, ensuring that every problem is addressed and all traditions are honored. Her demeanor is kind, regal and, above all else, exceedingly gentle. A good first impression is very important after all, and when it's "royal duty time" you'd better believe that she knows how to act the part (not that much of it is actually an act). She thinks the world of her kingdom and its people, and works hard to ensure that they live happy lives. The times we see her alone in her room, diligently filling out paperwork say a lot about just how much of New Hyrule she is already responsible for, despite how young she is. She is very aware of her duties as the only member of the royal family left, and though she wasn't exactly willing at first, eventually not even a trifling little thing like being dead could stop her from doing what was necessary to keep her home safe.
When dealing with people on a one-to-one basis, Zelda is usually good-natured. Save for the few times when she was under extreme duress, she is very aware of herself socially: always polite, often gentle, but firm when necessary, and never one to make pithy comments... at least until you're safely out of earshot, anyway. Her knowledge of the difference between social classes shows, and the way she acts around others sits on a constantly sliding scale of formality and informality. The higher your social status (or similarly, the more positive her first impression of you), the more formal and respectful she is, though this can be counterbalanced by how long she has known you. She is more likely to be informal around a close friend, even a respected close friend, than she is around someone she has only just met. If she gets the impression that she doesn't need to act like a princess around you, then she won't unless the situation calls for it.
When given the opportunity to be informal, Zelda is considerably more outgoing. She's cheerful, fiesty, and can even be a little playful! She has no shortage of optimism and friendliness, and while not exactly hyper, she does sometimes radiate with a sort of happy, bubbly energy that she's more than willing to get others caught up in. Thanks to the events of Spirit Tracks as a whole, she's developed a liking for adventuring, too! Traveling along with Link, donning the Spirit Armor, it was all about her finding a way to be helpful at first. But, there was no denying that by the end of their journey, she found traveling the countryside, tromping through the Spirit Tower, and fighting to be, well, fun! If anything, she'll be the first one to initiate the high-five of victory after a job well done, and then boast about how exhilarating it was to kick that monster's kiester. She really can act like that tomboyish grandmother Anjean suggests she takes after in the beginning.
While Zelda normally proves to be a very sweet and energetic girl, it simply isn't possible for her to always be full of sunshine and rainbows. She has her fair share of moments where she loses hope, worries for the safety of herself and others, and isn't strong enough to continue smiling on her own. She cares a great deal for those she has managed to form bonds with, and when they are out of sight she can often be seen fretting over their safety and well-being even if they've proven themselves to be perfectly competent and capable fellows. She is even quick to urge Link along on their journey when he makes stops that seem frivolous to her, reminding him that their time is short and asking if what he's doing is really necessary.
Aside from her fretting, she also has a massive temper. Tweak the appropriate buttons and you can set off quite the flare inside of her, whether it be channeled into grim determination or a most terrifying and righteous fury. Her bad side is not anything you ever want to be on, because when she flips out, she flips the heck out. You might liken her to a stick of dynamite with a very, very long fuse.
She can be brutally honest when she wants to be, though she is loathe to mention any of it to that person's face unless she feels they're about due for a good tongue lashing. She can be downright critical of what she finds strange or doesn't understand, and has no problem voicing her concern if she thinks something is wrong. Granted, while her observations can be somewhat unkind, they are also usually spot on! What isn't weird about a grown man in a rabbit suit who collects bunnies, am I right?
Backstory: Her spot on the Zelda page in the wiki, Events of the game
Zelda has absolutely no reason to come to Smash Academy of her own accord. She has a kingdom to run! Her subjects need their princess, man, there isn't any other royalty left. And if she really wanted to learn how to fight, she could ask her jack-of-all-trades bff engineer Link, or order the captain of the royal guard to instruct her. She would never purposely leave her country, she loves it too much and her sense of responsibility toward it is too great.
Which is to say, she's totally getting jamjarred.
Little more than a week passes after the end of the game (just long enough for the events in the credits to occur) when Ms. Princesspants is asked to investigate the appearance of a mysterious portal in the basement of the castle. Armed only with her bow and a sincere hope she doesn't run into any rats, Zelda approaches the portal. It promptly sucks her in and she's dropped unceremoniously into Smash Academy proper, the warphole that brought her there closing up with an uncaring *blip.* Or *ting*. Or whatever sciencey sound effect you imagine a portal would have. She settles into academy life if only because she has no intention of wasting her time being stuck there.
Anything Else?:
-She'll be bringing along the Bow of Light she used in the final battle against Malladus.
-Zelda has a crippling mouse/rat phobia. It was played up for laughs in-game and I intend to do the same, but keep in mind that this is a very real phobia! If you come at her with anything remotely mouse-like (I'm looking at you, Pikachu), she will overreact and probably run screaming in terror. Or just be frozen to the spot, crying for help.
-On the other hand, she thinks bunnies are super adorable. :3
In-Character 1st person sample:
Your character returns home after a long, hard, day... and realizes that a particularly rambunctious Driver's Ed class has resulted in someone driving a go-kart right through their wall.
Pardon the interruption, everyone, but I have a bit of a problem.
[The camera pans over to show what is very clearly a hole in her dormitory wall, the culprit of such a feat being the go-kart hanging precariously on the edge of the third-story floor on which she resides.]
I returned from my studies today to find... this. [she gestures to it, expression far from pleased] So first, let me thank the driver; it was very kind of you to flee the scene of the crime and leave me to clean up your mess. You are obviously uninjured, or else you would still be here. I'm glad you're not hurt! But, make no mistake...
I will find you.
Next, I would like to ask where I might be able to report this? I'm not yet used to the level of technology here, and I'm having some trouble finding the proper paperwork for such matters. I don't want to clog up the public network like this next time such an incident occurs, so your guidance on the matter would be greatly appreciated. No need to offer your assistance in removing the kart! I already have someone in mind who is more than up to the task.
[That said, she ends her public call and types in another number.]

Whether you've seen my public post or not, I'm sending this message to inform you that your assistance is required in the removal of an undesirable object from my dormitory room. Please come here as soon as you can.
In-Character 3rd person sample:
Someone has sent your character an anonymous love note.
It was the fifth time this week. The fifth!
Honestly. It was kind of cute at first, then silly, but now it was just plain annoying. Exactly how many more love notes was she expected to endure this month? It would be nice if they were actually for her, but alas, there was always one phrase or another that made it obvious the sender was seeking out her ancestor. She couldn't wait for February to be over.
This "secret admirer" had, thankfully, been bold enough to leave their initials, safely identifying him as someone way too old to be seeking the likes of her... companionship. That creepy factor aside, the valentine itself wasn't all that bad. It was a lovely little bout of wordplay, rhymes that spoke of roses red and violets blue- a poem that would surely make its intended recipient swoon. Or at least Zelda hoped the sender would have taken the time to discover whether or not the purported "love of his life" liked this sort of thing.
Normally she would simply have taken the valentine to the correct mailbox, but considering the number of screw ups she'd gotten this day alone, a good week after Valentine's had already occurred, she could safely say her patience toward the situation had run out. Turning the note around, she scribbles a hasty reply on the back and, after examining the room one last time to make sure she is completely and totally alone, drops it in the locker of whom she believes sent it.
'You got the wrong Zelda.'
